WHO WE ARE
Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is a global movement of Christians from diverse cultures, age groups, and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world.
Founded in 1960, YWAM focuses on reaching the nations and empowering youth. Today, YWAM has tens of thousands of staff called “YWAMers” from nearly every country.

We are dedicated to giving young people the opportunity to serve, care, connect and build locally, regionally, and internationally.

Engagement
YWAM Hangouts
We host an after-school youth program. Through various games and indoor sports, we aim to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience. Our goal is to create a safe environment that encourages new friendships and offers mentorship as our youth navigate life.

Giving Hope
We are passionate about bringing hope to the Whitsunday region by meeting the needs of those facing challenging situations. We engage the local community to partner with us in supplying household essentials to those in need. Our team coordinates the transportation of donated goods, such as beds, kitchenware, and refrigerators, to those who seek our support.
We frequently meet with the homeless to ensure they are safe, have access to food, hygiene products, and warm blankets for winter. Our goal is to provide friendship, encouragement, and essential needs for survival.

Youth Bible Study
We host a youth Bible study designed to engage young people in a deeper understanding of the Bible. This program focuses on how to study the scriptures through various techniques, and exploring the context of different books of the Bible.
Each night includes sharing personal testimonies which encourages growth and connection, reading two chapters and sharing what we took away from it, and opening space for questions.
Our goal is to help the youth build a strong foundation in biblical knowledge while growing together in faith and understanding.

Friday Night Gatherings
We host a potluck dinner open to the whole community to encourage connection, fellowship, and a chance to meet our team. After dinner, we move to our auditorium for Christian fellowship, which includes prayer, worship, and a biblical teaching. We also host a kids' church program with fun activities and a biblical message.
Our goal is to get to know the community better, identify needs, and build relationships. This event is open to everyone, whether Christian or not, providing the community with the opportunity to participate in our activities and explore questions of faith and Christianity.

Men's Bible Study
We host a men's Bible study that provides an opportunity for fellowship, growth, and a space to talk openly. Each session includes a free BBQ, creating a relaxed atmosphere for connecting with others while exploring scripture.
Our study focuses on understanding the Bible's teachings, exploring its context, and sharing personal experiences. The goal is to build a supportive community where men can grow in their faith and strengthen their bonds with one another.
We identified a lack of men’s groups in the region and saw a need for men to have a safe space to speak freely and air out their struggles.

Mum's Coffee
We recognized the need for mums to have the opportunity to connect with other local mothers, organize play-dates for their children, and take a break to build friendships of their own.
We host a free program where mothers in our community can bring their children. Our friendly staff will engage the children in our auditorium with fun activities such as games, arts and crafts, and story time.
For the mums, we open our cafeteria for fellowship and regular catch-ups. Once a month, we arrange for a special guest, such as a massage therapist or a nutritionist, to provide additional value. Barista-made coffee drinks are available for purchase from our cafe, with all proceeds supporting our community work. All first-time mums receive a free coffee!
Thursdays 9:30 - 11am.
International
Engagement
YWAM Whitsunday is committed not just to our locality, but to international outreach.
Since our beginning, we have sent teams to many locations across the world. Our longest engagement has been serving in PNG where our teams have run a range of educational seminars, primary health care, youth engagement, community development projects, and more.

We have worked closely in partnership with YWAM Medical Ships sending teams to volunteer in many capacities onboard the YWAM PNG.
We will continue to send teams overseas to see firsthand the challenges of others in different cultures and to learn to think outside of their scope, whilst making a positive difference.
